The topic of immigration has become a particularly sensitive and often polarizing topic. Conversations surrounding refugees, asylum seekers, border policies, and displaced families can bring strong emotions, differing opinions, and deep questions about responsibility and compassion. For people of faith, understanding these conversations from a biblical perspective is important, as Scripture consistently calls us to care for the stranger, love our neighbor and to seek justice.
On June 13, World Relief will be joining us for a conversation to help us connect the dots between global crises and the systems behind them, and why millions of people are forced to leave home. We will explore how war, persecution, violence, and climate pressures create displacement, and how those global realities show up right here as we encounter refugees, asylum seekers and other immigrants in our neighborhoods. Together, we will consider what it means to see our immigrant neighbor with compassion and clarity rooted in Scripture.
This conversation will prepare us for a future Faith & Justice workshop that will focus on practical local steps our church can take right here in Chicago.
