If you’ve ever been in Contemporary Worship, you’ve likely heard the fruits of Matt McCoy’s career.
A pastor’s kid and lifelong worship leader, Matt pioneered the use of tracks—pre-recorded musical parts played alongside live instruments to enhance the overall sound—in church worship in 2002. He is the inventor of widely adopted worship technology used by churches of all sizes and the founder and president of multiple worship-focused businesses.
In January 2026, Matt was named President of Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI), a global platform allowing churches around the world to access and play copyrighted worship music in their services. From chord charts used by musicians to lyrics projected in the auditorium to copyright licenses that allow worship composers to be paid, CCLI touches every step of a song’s journey from songwriting to service.
Join us at Men’s Eats to hear Matt’s unique perspective on worship, how he balances a demanding C-suite career with family life as a husband and father of three, and why he feels a deep rooting in Scripture should be a core pillar in the life of every man. Special bonus: Matt may bust out his guitar to share some of his original worship songs.
